R40 Alpine Pack
€299Built for the Alpine Push
The R40 is our first production pack — a 40-liter alpine workhorse designed for single-push routes and light-and-fast missions where every decision matters.
We spent two years prototyping. We broke a lot of zippers. We learned that less isn't always more — sometimes the right feature in the right place saves you 20 minutes on a ridge at sunset. And 20 minutes can be everything.
Design Philosophy
The R40 is built around three constraints that most pack designers ignore:
Vertical access. When you're strapped into a harness at a hanging belay, you can't take your pack off. The side-access zipper lets you grab your headlamp, snacks, or layers without unclipping.
Glove-friendly hardware. Every buckle, toggle, and drawcord is sized for gloved hands. We tested this at -15°C in Chamonix. If you can't operate it with thick mittens, it gets redesigned.
Silent fabric. Dyneema Gridstop was chosen as much for its quiet hand as its strength-to-weight ratio. Nylon crinkle is the enemy of focus.
What's in the Box
Every R40 ships with:
- The pack body with removable aluminum stay
- Two removable hip-belt pockets
- Rain cover (stows in bottom compartment)
- Patch kit with fabric swatches and tenacious tape
- A handwritten note from whoever built your pack
Field Notes
"Took the R40 prototype up the Frendo Spur last week. The side zip saved me at the crux — grabbed a jacket without taking the pack off. My partner's pack doesn't have that. He got cold. I didn't."
— Mathieu, Chamonix test team
The R40 is in final testing. Expected to ship September 2026.
